• There are several breast procedures performed at The Sayah Institute that may be eligible for insurance payment or reimbursement:
• Asymmetrical Breasts: Although all women have some degree of asymmetry between breasts, surgery may be necessary for correction in extreme cases. An aesthetic breast procedure that’s performed to improve a significant degree of asymmetry may be covered by insurance.
• Benign Breast Mass: Not all breast masses are malignant, yet they may still require a full or partial mastectomy or lumpectomy, followed by reconstructive breast surgery.
• BRCA Positive: Women who test positive for the BRCA1 or BRAC2 gene may choose a preventative mastectomy to limit their chances of developing breast cancer. When performed under the hands of a board certified plastic surgeon, a prophylactic mastectomy should leave more optimum scars.
• Breast Implant Complications: For implants that have shifted in placement, that have ruptured or leaked, or for other complications related to breast implants, insurance often pays for revision surgery.
• Breast Reconstruction: Following a mastectomy or lumpectomy, insurance companies that cover the costs of a primary surgery are also required to cover reconstructive breast surgery costs. This may include implant reconstruction, flap reconstruction or other surgeries required to restore symmetry between breasts.
• Breast Reduction: Macromastia, or the condition of very large breasts, can cause a number of secondary health concerns like back and neck pain, making breast reduction primarily a medical treatment rather than elective aesthetic procedure.
• Capsular Contracture: The formation of scar tissue around breast implants is part of the body’s normal healing response. However, an overgrowth of scar tissue may feel hard or even painful, and could also cause implant displacement. During breast revision surgery, the scar tissue capsule is released or removed for a beautiful, natural look.
• Congenital Deformities: Congenital deformities, whether present from birth or only become apparent during puberty, can be minimized or corrected through reconstructive breast surgery.
• Gynecomastia: The development of male breasts can occur due to a hormonal balance, often during puberty. Male breast reduction corrects the appearance of gynecomastia by removing the excess glandular and fatty breast tissue to reveal more muscular definition.
• Inverted Nipples: Nipples may appear inverted from birth, or develop over time due to complications related to breastfeeding, ptosis (droopy breasts) or physical trauma to the breast. Typically performed as an outpatient procedure, surgery can correct retracted nipples in both men and women.
• Tubular Breasts: Breasts may take on a tuberous appearance due to tissue constriction during breast development in adolescence. With the right surgical approach, this constriction can be released and corrected for a rounder, softer shape, either with or without implants.
